Construction opportunities plentiful during the Senegal “building boom”

Dakar, Senegal – July, 2017: Senegal’s rate of urbanization sticks at a solid 3.82 percent as the demand for housing remains strong, with many of the Senegalese rural population moving to the urban centres. Although a deficit of around 250 000 houses a year still remains, the government is utilizing its urban renewal policy to improve living environments and social services. With focus on an improved macroeconomic environment, sound policies, better data and increased access to affordable credit – a more enabled housing market is on the horizon.

The construction of luxury villas, hotels and shopping centres have also increased in recent years and added to the current building boom, particularly on the picturesque coast of Dakar. Dakar’s property market is a preferred investment for regional elites as the area is considered as a safe haven in turbulent West Africa.

Due to the need of an interactive meeting place, Senegal’s 2nd International Housing, Building and Construction Exhibition and Conference, will be hosted in Dakar from 10 – 12 October 2017 and organised by The Ministry of Urban Renewal, Housing and Living Environment, in partnership with AME Trade Ltd and AME Trade Senegal.

SENHABITAT 2017, supported by Sococim Industries, Baobab Holdings, Labosol, Peacock Investments, Sipres, Sablux holding and Union Nationale des Commercants et Industriels du Senegal, aims to create beneficial opportunities during this “construction revolution” for industry stakeholders.
