Great Mosque of Djenné – Mali

The Great Mosque is located in the city of Djenné, Mali. It is one of the most famous landmarks in Africa.

Is the largest adobe building in the world and is considered the highest achievement of Sudano-Sahelian architecture style. The first mosque on the site was built around the 13th century, but the current structure was built in 1907 .

The Great Mosque was designated a World Heritage Site by the UNESCO in 1988 along with the old town of Djenné.
