Bassari Country – Senegal

Bassari Country is located in the southeast of Senegal, is a multicultural landscape which emerged from the interaction of human activities and the natural environment. The site aggregates three culturally-distinct groups of people and three different geographical areas: the Bassari–Salémata area, the Bedik–Bandafassi area and the Fula–Dindéfello area, each one with its specifics social, ritual and spiritual practices characteristics that persist to this day.

In 2012, the Bassari Country  was added to the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites.
