The African Real Estate Summit is an international platform that brings together the full spectrum of the African real estate sector.
The African Real Estate and Infrastructure Summit, in partnership with United Cities and Local Governments Association Africa (UCLG-A) and WESGRO, will take place at the CTICC in Cape Town on 2-3 November 2016. The summit sees leading African cities showcase their urban development plans and discuss the challenges and opportunities of their urbanisation. The event format is conference and exhibition, continuing under the theme “Developing Future Cities”.
This transactional deal-making hub is aimed at providing an opportunity for investors, developers, landowners and the cities themselves to conduct business, sign contracts and develop the future cities of Africa. Alongside the Urban Development Plan City Showcase sessions, the two-day high- level conference will provide insight, guidance and training to African cities to attract and negotiate international finance and investment.
City representatives from; Cape Town, Johannesburg, Kigali, Lilongwe, Harare, Lusaka, Dar Es Salaam and Kigamboni New City have been quick to confirm their participation, expected attending cities include; Kampala, Windhoek, Accra, Abidjan, Cairo, Casablanca, Lagos, Abuja and Kinshasa.
The summit is expecting to host various profiles of attendees ranging from Governments Officials (City Directors, Ministers…), Cities and Local Authorities, Developers (Retail, Infrastructure…), business services (Contractors, Lawyers, Town Planners…), and investors and so on.
Two of the projects that are going to be featured are:
Luanda City, Angola / Broadway Malyan was appointed to work with the city authorities and government to lead an international consultancy team in providing a growth strategy for Luanda, the capital city of Angola. Luanda is a world city in the making – its wider metropolitan area currently home to over 6 million inhabitants and set to accommodate up to 13 million people by 2030.
Kigamboni New City Development / The Kigamboni New City is an ambitious project being overseen by the Tanzanian Government Ministry of Lands. It will be situated in the Kigamboni district which is to the south of the city of Dar Es Salaam. It will be linked to Dar Es Salaam by a new bridge.
