A relaxed introduction to the “black art” of acoustics, noise and vibration. The talk explains why acoustics and noise are important considerations in the design process and how to use it to set your designs apart from the rest.
There will be demonstrations and audio clips of good and bad acoustic design in buildings.
The Cape Institute for Architecture (CIfA a region of SAIA) was formed in 1899, and is the largest regional architecture body in South Africa, with the potential to influence development in the city of Cape Town and the wider region.
The Institute’s core objectives are to promote the practice of architecture, to serve the interests of its members, and to support the integrity of the profession through maintaining its code of conduct and professional competence as established by the national bodies: The South African Institute of Architects(SAIA) and the South African Council for the Architectural Profession (SACAP).
