Wanda Chunnett, Director of Turner & Townsend, South Africa who is speaking at this insightful event shared that:

“housing in Africa is an urbanization issue as people continue to stream into urban areas in search of jobs and a better lifestyle. Almost every government in Africa is currently engaged in the upgrade of existing City infrastructure or the creation of new cities that have a significant affordable housing component.

The conference will be featuring key presentations by industry experts from various regions in the world such as Cllr Brett Herron, Executive Mayoral Committee Member: Human Settlements, City of Cape Town, South Africa; Claudio Acioly, Head of Capacity Development Unit Housing & Urban Management Expert United Nations Human Settlements Programme, UN-Habitat, Kenya, Professor Jeremy Gorelick, Affordable Housing/Municipal Finance Senior Advisor, United Nations; James Aiello, Senior Project Advisor, PPP Unit, National Treasury of South Africa; Anthea Houston CEO, Communicare, South Africa; Andrew Chimphondah, Chief Executive Officer, Housing Investment Partners, South Africa; Paul Jackson CEO Trust For Urban Housing Finance (TUHF), South Africa; Sean O’ Sullivan CEO, Select Africa, South Africa, Willem Steenkamp Executive Head: Strategic Initiatives The Housing Development Agency, South Africa; Cas Coovadia Managing Director, The Banking Association South Africa. Looking back at the initiatives taken to address the challenge of delivering adequate housing, James Aiello, Senior Project Advisor, PPP Unit from the National Treasury of South Africa explained that many developers are initiating mixed-use developments within metropolitan areas which feature apartments, offices, retail spaces and, in some instances, single-family residences. Larger municipalities and metros with sizeable tracts of un-or-under used government land are also contemplating such initiatives.

Don’t miss James Aiello presentation at this Marcus Evans event on “Financing Approaches for Affordable and Rental Housing to Achieve Development Outcomes”.

Some of the special highlights of the event will be the international case studies, interactive workshop and post conference site visit to Greenville Garden City. The 4th Annual Affordable Housing Africa is proudly
